Specialist.Integrated Liver Care

The Specialist in Integrated Liver Care will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management for patients with liver diseases, integrating multidisciplinary care to offer comprehensive and personalized liver health solutions. This role will focus on diagnosing and managing complex liver conditions, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver cancer, and other related disorders, in collaboration with the broader healthcare team at Aster Medcity Kochi.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care :

   • Provide specialized medical consultations and treatment for patients with liver-related diseases.
   • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with chronic liver conditions, liver transplant candidates, and other hepatic disorders.
   • Conduct thorough evaluations including history taking, clinical examination, and appropriate diagnostic testing (e.g., blood tests, imaging, biopsy).
   • Create and manage personalized care plans, incorporating lifestyle modifications, medications, and interventions.

2. Multidisciplinary Collaboration :

   • Work closely with other specialists such as gastroenterologists, oncologists, surgeons, and nutritionists to provide holistic care.
   • Coordinate with other healthcare providers to ensure integrated care for liver disease patients, including pre- and post-transplant care.

3. Patient Education and Support :

   • Educate patients and their families about liver diseases, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
   • Provide guidance on managing liver health through diet, medications, and regular monitoring.

4. Research and Clinical Trials :

   • Participate in liver care-related research studies and clinical trials to advance the understanding and treatment of liver diseases.
   • Stay current with the latest advancements in liver care and apply evidence-based practices to patient care.

5. Documentation and Compliance :

   • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with medical regulations, health standards, and privacy laws.
   • Monitor and report any adverse drug reactions, and ensure adherence to ethical and clinical guidelines.

6. Training and Mentoring :

   • Mentor and train junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare staff in liver care management.
   • Provide guidance in the development of educational programs related to liver diseases.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education : Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialization in Hepatology or Gastroenterology.
• Experience :
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in diagnosing and treating liver diseases.
  • Previous experience in liver transplant care is highly desirable.
• Skills :
  • Expertise in managing complex liver conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.
  • Strong communication and patient management skills.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the latest treatment protocols and research in liver care.
