Executive / Assistant Manager - Purchase

Role & responsibilities:

Procurement Management:

• Source and purchase raw materials (steel, zinc, etc.) and other supplies required.
• Evaluate and select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain supplier relationships.
• Track inventory levels, forecast material requirements, and ensure an adequate supply of raw materials to avoid production delays.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials in alignment with production schedules.
• Handle procurement documentation, purchase orders, and vendor agreements.

Supplier Relationship Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery conditions with suppliers to achieve the best possible deals.
• Perform supplier audits to ensure quality and compliance with standards.

Purchase Order Management:

• Prepare and issue purchase orders for required materials and equipment.
• Monitor the order status and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely arrival of goods.
• Resolve any issues related to order discrepancies, damaged goods, or delays.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, including purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, and contracts.
• Prepare regular procurement reports for management, highlighting cost savings, supplier performance, inventory levels, and procurement activities.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Cost Control & Budgeting:

• Develop and manage budgets for the purchasing department.
• Track and control expenses related to material procurement, ensuring adherence to the budget.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement strategies for improving cost efficiency.

Inventory Management:

• Manage raw material inventory to ensure consistent supply while preventing overstock or stockouts.

• Work closely with the production team to plan and align material needs with production schedules.

• Monitor and manage stock levels to optimize warehouse space and reduce holding costs.

Preferred candidate profile:

• 3-5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment (preferably galvanized steel or similar industries) with a bachelors degree.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of supply chain management software and ERP systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations regarding materials procurement and manufacturing.
• Language: English, Hindi, (Kannada, Tamil)
