New Product Development Manager Job Description

We are looking to appoint a NPD manager who will be responsible for the company end to end development of new products to fulfill the customer requirements. In addition, the individual will be responsible for all phases of product development, from sourcing & development of the child parts, vendor selection & due-diligence, sample submission & approval, other customer required documentation and approvals like PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Be an important part of the topline and bottom-line focus of the organizations growth strategy
• Take complete ownership of the entire end-to-end cycle of new product development
• Understand and capture the customer requirements for a new filter/enhancement of an existing filter
• Determine product specifications according to a number of various factors and application
• Follow the Make or Buy process diligently and conclude on decision
• Develop/Reverse engineer filters to meet all the required specifications
• Responsible for New supplier due diligence and validation of process plan and execution plus testing
• Support manufacturing and design activities by developing samples of filters in development
• Ensure that the sample/s submitted for customer approval match the required specifications exactly
• Create and get approval on all the documents like PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA etc. required as per the customers requirements
• Take ownership of the quality and delivery of the first lot manufactured and supplied to the customer
• Testing of filters as per customer requirement as well as internal schedule

Qualification requirements

• Bachelors /Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and around 10 years NPD/Engineering experience
• Specific Competency: Good Command on Design of New Parts
• Strongly prefer industrial filter/ automotive NPD & testing experience
• Experience from filter industry (Fleetguard/Mahle/Donaldson/Mann+Hummel etc.) will be an added advantage
• Possess knowledge of NABL accreditation requirements and other Quality processes and systems
• Engineering development of Filters and their components
• Experience in operating Filter test equipment.
• Knowledge of ISO/SAE standards for Filter testing
• Experience in Tooling, Gauging, SPM
• Having proficiency in AutoCAD. Knowledge of 3D (Solid Edge or Catia) will be an added advantage
