L2 Network Engineer-Team Leader

Role & responsibilities

• Router & Switch Configuration: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches to ensure network efficiency and reliability.

• Network Troubleshooting: Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics for network issues related to routing, switching, and connectivity.

• Network Design & Implementation: Support network design, deployments, and implementation of network infrastructure (routers, switches, VLANs).

• Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance using various monitoring tools and address performance issues before they impact the organization.

• Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date network diagrams, configuration records, and troubleshooting logs.

• Escalation Handling: Provide support for escalated issues from L1 network support, working on more complex routing and switching problems.

• Network Security: Assist in securing the network by configuring firewalls, VPNs, and other security protocols on routers and switches.
• Upgrades & Maintenance: Manage network device firmware upgrades, security patches, and software updates.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to implement network changes and ensure minimal downtime during upgrades

Preferred candidate profile

Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).

• Certification: Must have completed or be in the process of completing CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) course or hold the certification.

• Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years of experience working with Cisco routers and switches in a network support role. ARMTECH/JD/NE •

Technical Skills: • In-depth experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches. • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, OSPF, EIGRP, and routing protocols. • Familiarity with network security protocols such as VPNs, firewalls, and ACLs. • Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark) and troubleshooting techniques.

• Soft Skills: • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. • Ability to work in high-pressure situations and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with advanced routing protocols such as BGP or MPLS.
