Our client is a leading multinational in the building material space. Looking to hire their Lead Strategic Buyer . You will be responsible for establishing a procurement strategy with a multi-local approach to provide more competitive advantages and agility to the Business for the key strategic purchases - Energy (Natural Gas, Bio Fuel/Bio Gas, Nitrogen, Green Hydrogen and Silane Gas, Soda ash and Power Purchase agreements). The role is based in Chennai, India together with the central Indian purchasing team.
You will identify vendor synergies in order to streamline the vendor panel, optimize run costs (leverage the group volume to better negotiate unit price), etc.
You will be responsible for developing short, medium and long term strategies for these categories.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead Buyer proposes enhancements to existing agreements as well as proposes and delivers innovative and consolidated sourcing strategies and deep drive on the various levers of these categories, engage with suppliers , market update, negotiations , contracting and measurement of the performance of the contract.
Establish a strong working relationship with key business stakeholders.
Optimize cost and define preferred suppliers through a sourcing strategy implementation, negotiations, and synergies aligned with businesses strategy and roadmap.
Develop deep knowledge on these categories.
Reinforcement of Supplier Relationship Management with strategic partners.
Manage supplier performance with a continuous improvement approach.
Hedging of Energy commodities.
Act as an ambassador toward internal stakeholder to comply with procurement policy processes.
Develop with support of IT Digital dash boards to measure the key indicators
Meet the sustainability targets on renewable energy purchase
Ensure perfect use of company sourcing tools and reporting.
Qualifications-
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills, experience, and attributes:
Educational Degree
Master s degree in business administration, Engineering, or equivalence.
Engineering from reputed College.
Experience in negotiating and handling central purchase categories (Minimum 10-12 years work experience).
Experience in Energy /power purchase will be preferable.
Strong knowledge of sourcing levers and processes from specifications to contracting.
Proficient in MS office (Excel/ Word/ PowerPoint).
Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication, team spirit and integrity
Adaptable, agile, proactive, and self-sufficient.
Experience in managing, stakeholders, and suppliers autonomously.
