About the Role:
An Audit Investigator will be responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations to assess, detect, and resolve discrepancies, fraud, or misconduct within the organization's financial and operational activities. The role requires a deep understanding of audit processes, investigative techniques, and regulatory compliance standards. The investigator will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard the integrity of the company's financial and operational systems.
Reporting To: Head Audit
Your Key Responsibilities:
• Fraud Detection and Prevention:
Lead investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, and irregularities within the companys financial records and operational activities.
Use forensic accounting techniques to uncover evidence of financial mismanagement, theft, or non-compliance with policies.
Evaluate internal controls, assess vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements to mitigate the risk of fraud and misconduct.
Conduct detailed audits and investigations related to financial transactions, contracts, procurement, and operational procedures.
Identify discrepancies, report findings, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
Analyze financial statements, transaction records, and business processes to identify irregularities and risks.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and Central laws, regulations, and industry standards during the investigation process.
Work with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to ensure that all findings are appropriately addressed and that necessary actions are taken.
Maintain thorough knowledge of relevant compliance regulations and auditing standards.
Gather and preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings related to audit investigations.
Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports detailing investigation results, including supporting documentation and recommendations.
Present findings to senior management, the board of directors, or regulatory authorities as required.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, legal, HR) to conduct investigations and resolve issues.
Provide guidance and support to department heads and other stakeholders regarding risk management and compliance issues.
Serve as a subject matter expert on internal controls, fraud prevention, and audit investigation procedures.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, investigative techniques, and audit technologies.
Suggest process improvements and contribute to the development of better internal audit practices and fraud detection methods.
