Senior Site Reliability Engineer

As a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer, you will ensure optimal performance and up-time of our network security infrastructure. Analyzing system performance end-to-end, focusing on the back-end and infrastructure elements. Automate deployment, configure workflows and ensure full platform monitoring and alerting. You will also help maintain and co-own our Kubernetes platform.

As a Site Reliability Engineer Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Identifying gaps and delivering solutions to enhance monitoring, enable rapid error detection, and implement automated alerting and remediation.
• Monitoring/responding to platform alerts and providing problem resolution by troubleshooting critical system issues with quick turnaround
• Working with Dev and architects in designing, coding, testing, and delivering software to automate manual operational work
• Supporting issues and collaborating with dev teams and architects to resolve them.
• Working with Major incident managers on incidents and RCA processes to identify opportunities to improve system performance
• Managing the production builds, overseeing the deployment (sometimes after-hours) of software releases, and helping to troubleshoot

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 8 years of experience and a Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or similar
• Demonstrate experience in Unix system administration
• Be open to learning Akamais internal, home grown tools
• Have experience of Site reliability engineering, and good knowledge of scripting languages: Python/GO and bash or similar
• Have exposure to modern CI/CD pipelines and running large deployments using virtualization or container technology and microservices
• Experience writing basic SQLs
• Have experience with Prometheus,Grafana and/or similar monitoring/alerting tools.
• Demonstrate knowledge in network technologies and internet protocols
