Procurement Manager

Role

The incumbent in this position will be required to oversee purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are both cost-efficient and high-quality. This includes supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records. A person with an analytical mind who keeps up with product and service trends. The role holder should be able to negotiate well and ensure that all purchases comply with University standards.

Responsibilities:

• Identifying procurement needs and finding suitable vendors. Procuring material from the selected vendor based on various defined parameters.
• Approve orders, buy margins, and intake across regions, identify new vendors for the category, and maintain multiple channels of sourcing.
• To look after the maintenance of procured items via maintenance contracts for procured items
• To look after the infrastructure needs of schools and identify & solve related problems
• Reviewing and approving invoices related to the procurement of goods and services
• Establishing Procurement Policies & Procedures.
• To check and test innovative technologies available in the market related to University operations and introduce the most suitable one.
• Having an eye for detail to ensure cost reductions in big-ticket items.
• Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
• Prepares and monitors budgets according to plan and ensures maximum utilization of manufacturing and logistics resources.
• Should be well-versed in the technical aspects of the required materials and should have the capability to negotiate the prices of various materials.
• Implement procurement strategies to maintain the security of supply and optimum value for money.
• Monitoring, evaluating, and improving supplier performance.
• Knowledge of import procedures, managing budgets and understanding of financial bookkeeping.
• Experience in handling supplier networks and the right vendors onboarded.

Qualification:

• Master's degree in a related field required from a reputed institute.
• 10 12 years of experience with a minimum of seven to eight years of relevant experience.
