Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
A GSE Technician II is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ground support equipment used in airport operations. This role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and fixing mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring that all equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with relevant regulations. The Technician II may also mentor junior technicians and assist in process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a variety of ground support equipment (e.g., baggage tractors, belt loaders, GPUs).
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to diagnose issues and determine the appropriate course of action.
- Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to perform repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Inspections & Diagnostics
- Perform routine inspections on GSE to identify potential problems and safety concerns.
- Document findings, maintain accurate service records, and recommend necessary repairs or part replacements.
- Conduct tests and checks to verify the effectiveness of repairs and ensure equipment is returned to service in optimal condition.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Follow all relevant safety standards (e.g., IATA, ICAO) and organizational protocols during maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to environmental and hazardous materials handling regulations when dealing with oils, fuels, and chemicals.
- Report safety hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Parts & Inventory Management
- Identify required parts and assist with inventory management by informing supervisors of stock levels and reordering needs.
- Collaborate with the procurement team or suppliers to obtain quality parts and materials at competitive prices.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and other required documentation with accuracy and detail.
- Prepare reports on equipment performance, repair status, and any recurring issues for review by management.
- Assist in maintaining digital records in the maintenance management system.
- Mentorship & Training
- Provide guidance and support to junior or entry-level technicians, sharing best practices and troubleshooting tips.
- Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on new technologies, tools, and industry standards.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Continuous Improvement
- Suggest process enhancements to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and advancements in GSE maintenance practices.
- Participate in team meetings and cross-functional discussions to optimize operations.
