Position Overview :

A GIS Quality Check Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of GIS data.

This role involves reviewing, validating, and verifying geospatial datasets, ensuring compliance with specified standards, and identifying discrepancies or errors for correction.

The specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the quality of GIS data used in planning, analysis, and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities :

Data Quality Assurance :

- Perform thorough quality checks on GIS datasets, including spatial and attribute data.

- Ensure data meets project specifications, industry standards, and organizational requirements.

- Validate topological consistency, geometry accuracy, and attribute correctness.

Error Identification and Correction :

- Identify errors such as missing data, incorrect attributes, or spatial misalignments.

- Recommend or execute corrective actions to resolve data discrepancies.

Data Review and Validation :

- Cross-verify GIS data with source documents, maps, or imagery.

- Ensure alignment of GIS data with project or legal boundaries.

- Validate data imports and exports for compatibility and completeness.

Documentation and Reporting :

- Maintain detailed records of quality checks, errors identified, and corrections made.

- Prepare reports summarizing data quality issues and their resolutions.

Collaboration :

- Work closely with data creators, GIS analysts, and project managers to address quality issues.

- Provide feedback and guidance to production teams to improve data quality.

Tool and Software Utilization :

- Utilize GIS software (e.ArcGIS, QGIS) to perform spatial analyses and quality checks.

- Use automated and manual techniques for quality assurance processes.

Qualifications :

Educational Background :

- Graduate/Post Graduate degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Cartography, or a related field.

Experience :

- 5-6 years of experience in GIS data processing, analysis, or quality assurance.

- Familiarity with spatial data management and quality control processes.

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in GIS software like ArcGIS, QGIS, or PostGIS.

- Strong understanding of spatial data formats (e., shapefiles, geodatabases, GeoJSON).

- Knowledge of geospatial standards.

- Basic skills (e., Python, SQL, Model Builder) for automation of quality checks (optional but preferred).
