Role:
As a Tax Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's tax obligations and ensuring compliance with tax rules and regulations in countries the Group operates.
You will be reporting to Group Tax Manager.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Tax Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of corporate tax returns (including the relevant Global Pillar Two filing) across all jurisdictions where the Group operates.
- This includes ensuring that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Monitor and interpret changes in local, national, and international tax laws.
- Assess their impact on the company and ensure that the company always remains compliant.
- Lead the annual tax provision process, including deferred tax calculations, and ensure accurate reporting in financial statements.
- Ensure that all VAT/GST and customs obligations are met, including accurate and timely filing of returns, payments, and claims for refunds.
- Manage the reconciliation of VAT accounts and address discrepancies promptly.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on VAT treatment of transactions, ensuring proper application of VAT on sales and purchases.
- Address and resolve any customs-related issues, including disputes with customs authorities, ensuring smooth and efficient cross-border movement of goods.
- Ensure that all transfer pricing compliance obligations are met, including accurate and timely filing of the relevant documentation (e.g, Economic Substance Reporting, Country-by-Country Reporting, Master or Local File, etc.
- Prepare comprehensive transfer pricing documentation to support the company's intercompany pricing strategies.
- Conduct regular reviews of transfer pricing documentation to ensure it reflects the company's current business operations and is aligned with local requirements.
Cross-functional collaboration:
- Work closely with the finance, legal, and operational teams to ensure that tax compliance implications are considered in all business transactions and decisions.
- Collaborate with Ops teams to optimize tax processes.
Liaison with external tax advisors:
- Serve as a point of contact with external tax advisors for tax compliance matters, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer from external consultants to internal teams, ensuring continuity and internal capability building.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field.
- A Master's degree or professional tax qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in taxation, ideally within an O&G commodity trading company.
- Strong knowledge of international tax laws, corporate tax, VAT/GST and transfer pricing guidelines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
