Job Objective

• Facilitate engineering support for new projects under TBCB route and international bidding.
• Stay updated on new technologies and market challenges.
• Identify strategies adopted by other industry players to remain competitive in tenders.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

• Understand and identify requirements as per tender documents.
• Identify necessary data and raise clarifications to BPC.
• Visit sites as required, especially for brownfield projects.
• Assist in the preparation of competitive tender engineering documents (e.g., SLD, Layout, BOQ).
• Keep records of amendments/clarifications issued by BPC and update drawings and BOM accordingly.
• Respond to technical inquiries from EPC/OEM for better scope clarity.
• Ensure tendering processes are followed and develop tendering documents.
• Collaborate closely with all internal tendering stakeholders.
• Prioritize forecasted tender engineering based on inputs from the BD team.
• Define and work on optimized solutions for substations, particularly for TBCB projects and international tenders.
• Analyze risk probability and severity of tenders from technical, commercial, and contractual perspectives.
• Support the team in developing mitigation strategies.
• Manage performance and development of team members.
• Identify improvement areas and implement good engineering practices.
• Conduct follow-up meetings with team members and act as a tender engineering manager.

People Management

• Provide MIS to all internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate closely with the internal survey team and techno-commercial team at the tender stage.
• Allocate work and develop the tender engineering team.

Minimum Technical Competencies

• Advanced understanding of substation engineering and design up to voltage levels of 66kV to 765kV, including AIS, GIS, and hybrid switchgears.
• Knowledge of domestic and international standards (e.g., IS, IEEE, CBIP, CEA, IEC) and regulatory aspects.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in MS tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Key Interactions

Internal

• Drawing and BOM revisions with respect to amendments/clarifications.
• Input to the Land Team for overall area requirements.
• Intimate O&M for any specific requirements (e.g., store, additional room in CRB).
• Provide detailed BOM to the internal estimation team.

External

• All bid documents provided by BPC.
• Clarifications required for tender from BPC.
• Technical specifications to EPC.
• Correspondence for all technical queries to EPC.

Job Profile

• Educational Qualification: Minimum B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 10-15 years, with at least 5 years in tender engineering and 5 years in substation design engineering. Site work experience is considered a value addition.
