PLC Dev Lead

Role & responsibilities

• Study and understand project level functional and technical requirements and document the same.
• Design/develop PLC and HMI programs to process Digital inputs, Analog inputs, perform data handling (Ascii / binary), interface devices using RS-232, RS-485, TCP/IP using industry standard protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet IP etc.
• Own Onsite deployment of projects
• 50% of the time for this role needs to be spent with customers onsite
• Research, Develop and Prototype new technologies and applications
• Expand solution offerings into other areas, for increasing revenue opportunities
• PLC System Design & Implementation:
• Lead the design, programming, and commissioning of PLC-based automation systems.
• Develop, test, and optimize PLC programs using industry-standard software such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi or other PLC platforms.
• Ensure proper integration of PLC systems with other control systems, machinery, sensors, and I/O devices.
• Develop in-line documentation for code, user manuals, and help files.
• Own Onsite deployment of projects
• Project Leadership & Coordination:
• Oversee PLC-related projects from initial planning through design, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, and vendors to ensure the timely and successful delivery of automation systems.
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
• Develop unit test plans, perform code review, perform unit testing and perform system testing.
• Own troubleshooting of program related issues, follow-up activities to enable daily success
• Design and implement training for Junior PLC Programmers and Field Engineers
• Analyze existing PLC systems and automation processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in interfacing different types of automation devices and 3rd party devices to PLCs, Like HMIs, CNCs, Scanners, Laser marking machines, RFIDs, Energy meters, Sensors, I/O Link modules, Biometric devices
• IEC 1131-3 programming language, with Date & time, Strings, Array Handling, Serial, RS485, Modbus, Profinet interfaces.
• Expertise in Siemens S7-1200 Series, Mitsubishi FX 5U series
• Schneider SCU (So machine), Weintek HMI, Mitsubishi GOC Programming
• Energy meter Integration (Modbus), Gauge integration (Rs232)
• New PLC developments for custom projects onsite (Ex Mitsubishi, Siemens, AB, ABB, Delta High end PLC communication and Data collection)
• Experience in Mitsubishi IQr series PLCs
• Leadership: Strong ability to lead, mentor, and manage technical teams.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of PLC systems, automation technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and budgets effectively.
• Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, operations, and external vendors to meet objectives.
• Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
