Business Analyst - Payment Banking Domain

Role & responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to payments and banking solutions.
• Work closely with stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to define API specifications and microservices architecture.
• Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), and User Stories.
• Facilitate discussions between business and IT teams to ensure proper alignment of payment systems with business goals.
• Analyze and optimize payment processing workflows, transaction settlements, and reconciliation processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, RTP, UPI, FPS, ACH, FedNow).
• Collaborate with development teams for API testing, integration, and validation to ensure smooth implementation.
• Work on API lifecycle management, versioning, and documentation to facilitate seamless adoption.
• Support system implementations, UAT, and post-production releases.
• Monitor industry trends in digital payments, open banking, and fintech innovations.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Banking & Payments domain.
• Strong knowledge of payment gateways, real-time payments, cross-border payments, and settlement processes.
• Experience in defining and working with RESTful APIs and Microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, ACH, FPS, UPI, FedNow, RTP, and card networks (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of API specifications (OpenAPI, Swagger) and API security standards (OAuth, JWT, API Gateway).
• Hands-on experience in writing user stories, process flows, and data mapping documents.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio, and BPMN.
• Understanding of banking regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
