Summary:Responsible for overall Database Governance with complete infrastructure management, ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system. To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of databases. Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases. Working knowledge on Database architecture, Database Backup & Restore, DB maintenance, Monitoring DB Server Logs, Handling BAU activities.
Roles & Responsibilities:1.Advanced Database Management:oManage and optimize MySQL/AWS RDS MySQL and AWS Aurora environments, ensuring high availability and performance.oOversee database design, implementation, and maintenance to support mission-critical applications.2.Performance Tuning and Optimization:oPerform advanced performance tuning and optimization of MySQL databases.oConduct regular performance assessments and implement solutions to improve query performance and database responsiveness.3.Database Upgrades and Migrations:oLead and execute database upgrades, migrations, and data replication strategies, including across homogeneous and heterogeneous environments.oEnsure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations and upgrades.4.High Availability and Disaster Recovery:oDesign and implement robust disaster recovery solutions and high-availability architectures, including clustering, replication, and failover mechanisms.oPerform regular failover drills and disaster recovery testing.5.Automation and Tool Development:oDevelop and maintain scripts and tools to automate routine database administration tasks.oImplement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve database performance issues.6.Cross-Functional Collaboration:oCollaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure database performance and reliability.oProvide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and other team members.7.Incident Management and Troubleshooting:oLead the resolution of complex database issues, including root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.oServe as an escalation point for database-related incidents and provide technical support during critical incidents.8.Security and Compliance:oEnsure database environments comply with security standards and policies.oPerform regular security audits and implement necessary security controls.9.Documentation and Best Practices:oMaintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.oStay updated with the latest database technologies and industry trends.
Professional & Technical Skills:Extensive experience managing and optimizing MySQL databases on AWS, including RDS MySQL and Aurora MySQL clusters.

In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including logical and physical backups, snapshot management, and PITR (Point-In-Time Recovery).

Strong expertise in performance tuning techniques, including indexing, query optimization, and database parameter tuning.

Experience with advanced replication setups (Master-Master, Master-Slave, and Circular Replication).

Proven experience in cloud database solutions, including AWS and Azure.

Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and monitoring.

Experience with database migration tools and techniques, especially from MyISAM to InnoDB storage engines.

Familiarity with PostgreSQL and experience in multi-database environments.

Experienced in upgrading MySQL/MariaDB server using in-place upgrade method for minor releases and logical upgrade method for major releases followed by MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade utility.1.Leadership and Mentorship:oAbility to lead database projects and mentor junior DBAs and developers.oStrong decision-making skills and experience managing complex technical projects.2.Communication and Collaboration:oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.oStrong presentation skills and experience in technical documentation.3.Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:oStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues.oAbility to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.4.Certifications (Preferred):oAWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Database – Specialty.oMySQL Database Administrator Certification.

The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in MySQL Database Administration
