About the Role
Seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Business Unit (BU) Head for the Railway & Metro Division. The BU Head will play a crucial role in driving the strategic growth, managing P&L and operational excellence of this division. The role involves a strong focus on business development (60-70%), along with hands-on experience in project operations and team management (30-40%).
The role requires a visionary leader who can manage a large and growing team, interact with high-profile clients, and deliver complex projects related to Railway & Metro
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development (BD):
- Drive new business acquisition and establish strong relationships with key clients
- Lead the front-end sales process, including identifying opportunities, meeting clients, and leading negotiations.
- Prepare and oversee the development of bids, proposals, and contracts.
- Analyze market trends and client requirements to build tailored solutions and gain a competitive edge in the marketplace.
- Focus on driving growth and profitability for this BU
Financial & Operational Oversight:
- Manage and monitor the financial performance of projects and the division, ensuring that profitability and performance targets are met.
- Work with the COO and senior management to develop budgets, forecasts, and ensure resource allocation is optimized.
Project Management :
- Oversee the execution of key projects within the division, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality standards.
- Manage project teams (both in-house and outsourced) and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants during the project lifecycle.
- Manage risks, issues, and changes during project execution, and ensure projects meet technical, financial, and time-related objectives.
- Work closely with design, engineering, and operational teams to ensure seamless project execution
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a large team consisting of BD , engineers, project managers, designers, and administrative staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across the division.
- Develop team capabilities and expertise in line with evolving industry needs
Client & Stakeholder Interaction:
- Engage directly with senior client executives, government authorities, and industry stakeholders to understand their needs and build long-term relationships.
- Present and represent the company at industry conferences, client meetings, and strategic forums.
- Demonstrate strong presentation and negotiation skills when dealing with clients and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 12+ years of experience in business development and project management in the similar sectors. Proven track record in leading large, complex projects and achieving revenue growth.
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of projects in metro and railway
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large teams with strong interpersonal skills to motivate, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
- Business Development: Expertise in front-end sales, bid preparation, client relationship management, and contract negotiations.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of project execution, including managing design, engineering, and construction processes
- Financial Acumen: Ability to manage project budgets, revenue forecasts, and ensure financial sustainability for the division.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present confidently to large clients and stakeholders.
- Behavioral Traits: Strategic thinker with the ability to understand in-depth project requirements. Highly organized with a focus on operational efficiency.
