Job Description

Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: East African Region
Reports To: Board of Directors


Job Summary:

The Chief Executive Officer will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the organization, an aviation company specializing in commercial flights, both schedule and charters. The CEO will be responsible for overall business growth, operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the aviation industry, with deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation in a competitive market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the company's long-term vision, mission, and strategic objectives in alignment with the aviation industry's best practices and market demands.
  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to aviation regulations and best practices.
  • Financial Performance: Drive financial growth and profitability by optimizing revenue streams, controlling costs, and ensuring sustainable expansion.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and international aviation laws, safety regulations, and industry standards such.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with shareholders, government bodies, regulatory agencies, business partners, and key clients to enhance business opportunities.
  • Market Expansion & Innovation: Identify growth opportunities, including new routes, services, partnerships, and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Promote a safety-first culture and ensure robust risk management practices across all business units.
  • Team Leadership & Culture Development: Lead, inspire, and mentor senior management teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
  • Brand & Public Relations: Act as the company's public representative, fostering a strong brand image and engaging with media and industry stakeholders.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in the aviation industry, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
  • Strong understanding of global aviation market trends, regulations, and operational requirements.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale operations and driving business growth.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and make sound, strategic decisions under pressure.
  • Experience working with regulatory authorities and governing bodies in the aviation sector.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience in airline, charter, cargo, or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations.
  • Strong negotiation skills for dealing with aircraft manufacturers, lessors, and service providers.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on innovation and technological advancements.
  • Ability to build and maintain high-performing teams.
