Shirnkage is the basic part first we need to look ground level requirements and then fit this in to managment requirement. For shirkage collect first week off prefrences and if any changes in upcoming week will cordinate with team plan it. For attrition Give them proper knowledge for growth and give them glidth path how to achieve the goal. Because if employees does not have goal that is means work is worth less.

When i enter my office my 1st and foremost activity is to meet my team then my senior cause my performance depends on my team not my seniors. It creats a good impression that they are important for you and ask their where about.

Take feedback about your work style and behaviour from your team. Really it will feel them that you vaule them.
Guide them about the growth part in company. Share your knowledge with them also you can assign them some work, it will feel that you care for them. It will help to manage attrition. Don't make false promises about promotion and increment
Unplanned Shrinkage is the big headache for me than my appraisal. It can be maintained by only good relationship with team. Try to feel them what you have to face for their absentism. Give priority to genuine need. In some case you have to work for them also.
