To define one way and two way slab, we follow different procedures. For two way slab, reinforcement is fixed in both directions.

One way slab is defined as the slab in which the ratio of longer span to shorter span is greater than or equal to 2.
Two way slab is defined as the slab in which the ratio of longer span to shorter span is less than 2.
For two way slab, reinforcement is fixed in both directions to distribute the load uniformly.
The reinforcement is placed in the form of a mesh, with bars running in both directions.
The size and spacing of the bars depend on the load and span of the slab.
