Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Two tests completely based on mathematical and logical aptitude and Interviews.
Top 10 rankers of Trade Mogul competition(Trading competition conducted by Future First) are directly called for interview.
Total Questions: 2

Round: Test
Experience: Their sole purpose was to know whether you are capable of handling mathematical calculations easily and quickly. You just need to practice lots of multiplication, division and other simple stuff so that you become quick during the test.
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: HR Interview
Experience: - Choose between Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. I personally, would advise you to go for Mahatma Gandhi. If you go for Bose, they will reject you saying that you have a violent side to your personality which of course is not good for them.- What would you do if you were given 1 lakh and were told to jump off the first floor? 5 lakh for the 2nd floor? 10 for the 3rd floor?
Assess the risk in every situation and then using your reasoning, give the answer. I answered that for the amount of money involved i would jump off the 1st and 2nd floors but not the 3rd floor. At maximum I would break my bones or suffer a few fractures which is good enough for the money.
-I give you 5 lakhs right now. Go and kiss the girl standing outside. Will you take the risk?
I said yes I will. She will slap me on the face or maybe get a complaint registered against me with the Dean. It will be a fair deal for the money involved.
-I said, “Sir, my height is about 6 feet. So if I lie down 3 times along the length that should be enough reason for you to get convinced”. So I lied down on the floor along the length of the room thrice. The HR interview was a very different experience for me. I felt that they were looking for a guy who would fit best in their culture and has the ability not only to take risks but also assess it and mitigate it. Besides this they also asked me some HR questions like why should we hire you, what are your goals and why are you suitable for the company. There were few other HR questions as well which were not so different form the regular ones.Overall it was a very good interview experience. They were looking for people who can take risks and were not hesitant to take an initiative and then back their decision with sound thought process.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: I have a fetish for numbers. So, rather than a month long preparation, requisite effort was there for quite some time and a brief stint with Vedic Maths formulae sufficed. One can always start with the Vedic Math channels in YouTube
Duration: 29 minutes
Total Questions: 75

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were no GD

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: In the 1st round of interview, the interviewer asked question primarily based on my CV and the form they had asked us to fill up right before the interview

Round: Stress Interview
Experience: The 2nd round was basically, a stress interview. They test you by asking to multiply numbers in your head, in let’s say, 10 seconds. Or by giving you fictional scenarios.
Tips: I was in touch with our seniors in the company, who had suggested that, a brief idea about trading and markets would help. I have been following Investopedia for quite
some months. Also, I have been following YouTube channels of Lex Van Dam et al, to know about high pressured trading environments. Ultimately, they were quite helpful
and if you really have interest in knowing these things, you will enjoy the entire prep process

General Tips: I had no interest for going into any of the Core companies. So, I had made up my mind to go into anything but Core or IT. And after going through Futures First job profile and the reviews of some of our alumni placed in the company, it was one company that I was hoping for. So, yes, I am satisfied.
Skill Tips: NA
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: Getting placed is more luck than anything else. But, a bit of preparation can always come in handy. I would suggest a constant study of the current happenings in the business world. Reading newspapers and books or following blogs can be of great help. For this company in particular, practicing speed maths is a must as some of us faced questions of 3-digit and 2-digit multiplication to be answered without pen and paper within, 10 seconds. Stay calm for interview, because the key, ultimately, is confidence. Just remember, no one gets anything more than one deserves and before the scheduled time. So, deserve, desire and chill.

stage. In 2nd stage they conducted a one hour aptitude test. 33 people were selected for the 3rd stage.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: At 3rd stage a half an hour interview was taken of each candidate. 11 people were selected for the fourth stage. At fourth stage again a 25 minutes interview was taken. Finally 3 people were made final offers. In the first interview I was first asked about the academic projects that I had undertaken. Since I had written about a project Related to foreign exchange I was asked about every minute detail in it and some general economic basics like impact of inflation on interest rates etc. Then I was asked some HR questions such as: Why would you join a finance firm inspite of having a technical background? What do you know about our company? what are your strengths? Then I was given a case study to estimate the number of black cars in Calcutta. If someone wants to appear for this company, what all should he/she ideally prepare? He/she should build his aptitude and good calculation skills. He/she should also be clear about what the company is all about. He/she should be clear about every point written in his/her resume

General Tips: One must be in an impressive formal attire but also comfortable. In spite of the nervousness inside one must keep calm which ultimately will keep your performance at its peak as excessive zeal may lead one into wrong direction.
Skill Tips: -I was a regular reader of editorials of newspapers like The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Times of India.
I prepared for the CAT exam which was of great use to me in clearing the aptitude tests of various companies. I read the Beprepared material of batch 2006 which helped me to prepare and have the right mindset required for an interview. For test preparation I think practicing the CAT exam based questions individually is of great help to build one’s aptitude for the tests. For GD, preparation in groups with a variety of topics is of great help. For interviews too preparation in groups for different types of HR questions makes one keep a track of how clear his viewpoints are and the regular inputs or feedback from other members improves one’s ability to perform well in an interview.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There were two rounds of written test.
Round 1: 5 minute test based on mathematical calculations
Round 2: 30 minute test based quantitative ability and data Interpretation skills
Their sole purpose was to know whether you are capable of handling mathematical calculations easily and quickly. You just need to practice lots of multiplication, division and other simple stuff so that you become quick during the test.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR interview was a very different experience for me. I felt that they were looking for a guy who would fit best in their culture and has the ability not only to take risks but also assess it and mitigate it.

Some of the HR questions that were asked to were:-

Choose between Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. I personally, would advise you to go for Mahatma Gandhi. If you go for Bose, they will reject you saying that you have a violent side to your personality which of course is not good for them.
What would you do if you were given 1 lakh and were told to jump off the first floor? 5 lakh for the 2nd floor? 10 for the 3rd floor?
Assess the risk in every situation and then using your reasoning, give the answer. I answered that for the amount of money involved i would jump off the 1st and 2nd floors but not the 3rd floor. At maximum I would break my bones or suffer a few fractures which is good enough for the money.

I give you 5 lakhs right now. Go and kiss the girl standing outside. Will you take the risk?
I said yes I will. She will slap me on the face or maybe get a complaint registered against me with the Dean. It will be a fair deal for the money involved.

Calculate 1292 within 15 seconds (without the pen of course).
657*53 within 15 seconds (again without the pen).
The interviewer asked me the length of the room. I said that it was around 18 feet. He asked me to convince him of the same.
I said, "Sir, my height is about 6 feet. So if I lie down 3 times along the length that should be enough reason for you to get convinced”. So I lied down on the floor along the length of the room thrice.

Besides this they also asked me some HR questions like why should we hire you, what are your goals and why are you suitable for the company. There were few other HR questions as well which were not so different form the regular ones.

Overall it was a very good interview experience. They were looking for people who can take risks and were not hesitant to take an initiative and then back their decision with sound thought process.
