Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - I recently applied for a ReactJs Developer position with 2year of experience and was invited for a face-to-face interview in Chennai. Prior to the interview, the HR informed me on mobile that first round would be a screening round, followed by a task round, and finally a CTO round. However, after reaching the interview location(Chennai), I came to know that HR person was on leave.
The first round was conducted by a existing developer of the company who seemed to lack the necessary skills for conducting a meaningful interview. Despite my efforts to provide concise and relevant answers to all questions the interviewer abruptly stopped the session and asked me to leave . As soon as I left the location, I was informed that they were looking for a lead role and my profile was not matching with the company's expectation. The experience was quite disheartening, rude and I feel compelled to express my dissatisfaction with the interview process.
Travelling over 450 kilometers from Coimbatore and spending over Rs.4200 for the interview, only to encounter an unprofessional and discourteous interview, has left me frustrated. I believe it is essential for the company to ensure that their interviewers are adequately trained to conduct assessments and that the process is respectful of candidates' time and efforts. I hope my feedback is considered for the improvement of future interview experiences for other candidates.

(2 Questions)

  • Q1. What is props drilling?
  • Ans.

Props drilling is the process of passing props from a parent component to multiple levels of nested child components.

    • Props drilling can lead to a complex and inefficient code structure.

    • It can make it difficult to maintain and update the codebase.

    • Using context API or Redux can help avoid props drilling by providing a centralized state management solution.

  • Q2. What is pure component
  • Ans.

Pure component is a class component in React that does not re-render if the state and props remain the same.

    • Pure components extend React.PureComponent class

    • They implement shouldComponentUpdate method with shallow comparison of props and state

    • Pure components are more efficient than regular components as they prevent unnecessary re-renders
