I applied via Campus Placement and was interviewed in Jan 2023. There were 3 interview rounds.
It was 1 hour 45 min test where 40 question from technical side and 50 questions from aptitude. My engineering was chemical engineering so in technical part there were questions from different semester subjects like fluid operation, mass transfer, thermodynamics etc.
In case of aptitude it was logical reasoning, verbal reasoning, algebra. The aptitude was quite moderate level and technical was easy in my opinion.
Distillation is a process of separating components of a mixture based on their boiling points.
It involves heating the mixture to vaporize the component with the lowest boiling point.
The vapor is then condensed and collected as a separate liquid.
This process is commonly used in the production of alcoholic beverages, fuels, and essential oils.
Fractional distillation is a variation of distillation that is used to separate...
Relative volatility is a measure of the difference in vapor pressures of two components in a mixture.
It is used in distillation processes to determine the separation efficiency of a mixture.
Higher relative volatility indicates easier separation of components.
It is calculated as the ratio of vapor pressures of the two components.
For example, in the separation of ethanol and water, ethanol has a higher relative volatilit
Equal relative volatility means no separation is possible in distillation.
Relative volatility is the ratio of vapor pressures of two components in a mixture.
When it is equal to 1, the vapor pressures of both components are equal.
This means they will boil and condense at the same temperature, making separation impossible.
Distillation relies on the difference in boiling points of components to separate them.
Therefore, di...
Extractive distillation is a process used to separate two or more components from a mixture using a solvent.
It involves adding a solvent to the mixture to form two liquid phases.
The solvent selectively removes one component from the mixture, leaving the other behind.
The solvent and the removed component are then separated from each other by distillation.
Examples include separating ethanol from water using benzene as a ...
Types of NPSH and their differences
Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) is the difference between the absolute pressure at the pump suction and the vapor pressure of the liquid being pumped.
Types of NPSH are available NPSH (NPSHa) and required NPSH (NPSHr).
NPSHa is the amount of NPSH available at the pump suction, while NPSHr is the amount of NPSH required by the pump.
The difference between NPSHa and NPSHr determines wheth...
To increase NPSHr when NPSHa is more, reduce the impeller diameter or increase the speed of the pump.

A centrifugal pump is a mechanical device used to transport fluids by converting rotational kinetic energy to hydrodynamic energy.
Centrifugal pumps are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, and water treatment.
They work by using an impeller to create a low-pressure area at the center of the pump, which draws in fluid and then expels it at high pressure through the outlet.
Pumps are used to transport...
NPSH stands for Net Positive Suction Head. It is a measure of the pressure available at the suction side of a pump to prevent cavitation.
NPSH is important in pump selection and operation.
It is the difference between the total suction head and the vapor pressure of the pumped fluid.
Insufficient NPSH can lead to cavitation, which can damage the pump and reduce its efficiency.
Different types of pumps have different NPSH r...

General ability test maths reasonings
Pump cavitation can be caused by low pressure or high temperature. It can be solved by increasing pressure or reducing temperature.
Pump cavitation occurs when the pressure in the pump drops below the vapor pressure of the liquid being pumped.
This can be caused by low pressure or high temperature.
To solve the problem, you can increase the pressure or reduce the temperature.
Other solutions include increasing the size of ...
Steam ejector works based on pressure sensitivity.
Steam ejector uses high-pressure steam to create a vacuum by entraining and compressing low-pressure gas or vapor.
The pressure difference between the high-pressure steam and low-pressure gas or vapor causes the gas or vapor to be drawn into the ejector.
The steam ejector is commonly used in refrigeration, distillation, and vacuum systems.
The efficiency of the steam eject...

Modes of heat transfer include conduction, convection, and radiation.
Conduction is the transfer of heat through a material without any movement of the material itself.
Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids, such as air or water.
Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, such as the heat from the sun.
Examples of conduction include touching a hot stove or holding a cold dr...
Design of distillation column involves determining the number of trays, column diameter, and feed location.
The number of trays is determined by the separation required and the reflux ratio.
Column diameter is determined by the vapor and liquid flow rates.
Feed location is determined by the composition of the feed and the desired product purity.
Other factors to consider include pressure drop, heat transfer, and material s...

Reflux ratio is the ratio of the amount of liquid refluxed to the amount of liquid that is being distilled.
It is an important parameter in distillation processes.
It helps in determining the efficiency of the distillation column.
A high reflux ratio results in a higher purity of the distillate.
Reflux ratio can be adjusted to optimize the distillation process.
It is calculated as the ratio of the reflux flow rate to the di

Pump Whay is a required pump for a specific application.
Pump Whay is likely a typo and should be corrected to 'Pump What'.
The required pump depends on the specific application and its requirements.
Examples of pump types include centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps, and gear pumps.
