You get a chance to work with people and students of all cultures; there is a lot to learn from diversity. It's spectacular in terms of surrounding beauty! The culture is more western so not so much a top down heirarchical attitude as a collaborative one. The perks are amazing if housing is covered for you, Then you also get free furniture internet, subsidized food, free tech support, free maintenance, free painting every 3 years, the perks are too many to count. The community is very supportive, and there are great opportunities to discover your hidden talents. Since a large majority of staff were expats (prepandemic) people tend to come and go, which brings new leadership styles, new concepts, new approaches. You learn from each person and don't stagnate. You also make friends from all over the world.

It's hard for young folks used to an urban culture to adapt to a more rural culture. I went there in my late 40s so i loved the change of pace, but many could not adapt. You have to be a nature lover, who loves the mountains and hiking, mountain biking, animals including wildlife to thrive there. You have to be prepared for spiders and scorpions in your home, long monsoons accompanied by mold, and monkeys who may try to steal the food from your hands. We get almost 2 months off a year so the work pressure in the remaining months is high. Professional development for non teaching staff is almost non existent, and growth opportunities for this group are limited.

Welfare of the staff is one of the top priority of the school. In these times of pandemic, it allowed all the staff to work from home to keep the teachers safe. The school should consider to give a contract of 5 years to the teachers who have completed 2 years of service.

There are very few schools in India like Woodstock. I like everything about it.

I think Woodstock is among the best international schools not only in India but all over the world . The cultural diversity among the staff and the students and the overall physical environment of the school is something which is hard to find elsewhere in India.
