A lot of things vary from project to project. They have been providing full salary in the first three lockdowns. Let's see what happens in the future.

The campus is great for wildlife. There is a lot of opportunity for doing nature trails.

Dislikes

There are too many problems. The work culture is very poor. There is no appraisal system in place. There is hardly any increment.

Dehradun is a beautiful city for staying and people of uttarakhand is really good at heart, this is the only pro if you join the institute. If you want to do skill/ personal development then 6 months in this institute is enough. After that slave life will start.

I really don't know from where to start and where to end there are do many cons for working in that institute. 1. If you are an outsider( not a wii msc) then there is a high chance that you will become the victim of nepotism, as the scientist will always prefer their own student over you. 2. In most of the cases the project works are not at all planned, so it creates a huge chaos and you will always be on deadline, and it will severely hamper the work-life balance. 3. There is no student council or mental harrasment councelling cell in the institute, in the past also many researchers have tried, but somehow the student council files went missing, so there is noone to fight for your right. 4. Growth will only be provided if you are great at buttering, because wii apparently endorse the concept of favoritism. 5. Growth is next to nothing. And these are just tip of the iceberg, the institute looks really amazing from the outside, but once you start working there its completely differently experience. I am pretty sure that i am not the only researcher who is suffering, maybe i am one of the very few who has the guts to put the facts in the public forum.

This place is a great for learning about nature. Scientists & researchers are very helpful and supportive. The institute has a nature trail, lake and lots of open space to roam around freely. Peoples of different parts of the country work together for same goal. Overall its a great place to start one's career in environment or wildlife conservation.
