New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward

I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. The best part about working here is one will get to learn a lot about drafting since it is basically a civil litigation dominant law firm. The other good thing is here everyone is helping each other and no one has to keep looking over his shoulder. It is a small boutique law firm so one has to do pretty much all types of work, that includes paralegal to drafting and pleading. Integrity and honesty are the two criteria they highly rate in this work set up.

There is not much to complain about this law firm. If I have to find one flaw about this law firm then that would be, majority of the work is related to property due diligence, so if someone not privy to the local language and does not like scrutinizing all the paperwork day in and day out then it is probably not the best place for you to start your career. Having said that, I would say this is a good place to start one's career with respect to the learning process and exposure to a different aspect of law.
