An Open Letter About My Experience at Univest.in feel compelled to share my six-month journey at Univest.in, a Gurugram-based startup, to provide transparency for current and prospective employees. When I joined in August 2024, the initial experience was promising. I excelled in my role, built trust with my manager, and felt part of a supportive team. The startup environment suggested a culture of genuine care for employees—an assumption I would later question. The first sign of issues emerged in October when the company introduced a new incentive structure. The plan included weekly percentage targets, monthly MTD incentives, and daily sales bonuses. Many of us, myself included, performed exceptionally well under this system. However, the promised rewards became a source of frustration. What should have been straightforward payouts turned into a series of delays and excuses—from audit-related postponements to missed deadlines. When payments finally arrived, they were incomplete. Of my earned ₹24,000 in incentives, only ₹16,000 was paid, with the remaining ₹8,000 inexplicably deducted. When I followed up, they told me that the weekly incentive had been closed, but they never informed anyone about the changes made to the incentive slab. The workplace culture gradually revealed deeper concerns. Target-setting lacked transparency, with managers arbitrarily increasing goals even when employees achieved 100-150% of their targets. The work hours were particularly demanding—while standard sales shifts in Gurugram typically run from 10 AM to 7 PM, Univest required 11-11.5 hour days, often extending beyond 8:30 PM. Even after leaving the office, we were expected to continue working until 11 PM. The management style, led by founder Pranit Arora and sales head Himanshu Anand, relied heavily on intimidation. Common threats included warnings about "ruining careers" and blocking future employment opportunities. This is a completely unprofessional behaviour by the management which effect personal well-being of an employee.New hires were routinely misled with unrealistic promises, while existing employees faced disrespectful treatment and verbal abuse. After six months, I chose to resign. Unfortunately, this professional decision was met with unprofessional behavior—including baseless rumors and derogatory comments from management. I want to be clear: my career trajectory remains strong, independent of my time at Univest. While I may take some time to find my next role, I'm confident in securing a position that aligns with my values and respects professional boundaries. I share this experience not out of spite, but to encourage transparency in the startup ecosystem. Employees deserve workplaces that honor their commitments, respect professional boundaries, and foster genuine growth—not just promise it. Inc42 Media

The work life balance is bad. You have no time for your personal things. If you are a backend developer then you need to forget Saturday, Sunday leaves. One more thing the product team and their coordination is very bad.
