...ills. Colleagues are not supportive and most of the times you are on your own. Company is not in the league of their competitors in terms of work or salary even though they are in the market for a long time.

Terrible lead (he was a SIMP). Terrible manager (used to ping at 9 pm onwards and ask to complete immediate adhoc request within same day i.e. by 12 am or so ). Project allocation not in line with skills in my case. No work life balance as everything is urgent for managers. Adhoc tasks keep on barging in. After that these managers and leads snub your credits for all your hardwork which is very demotivating.

Nothing, They do offer a lucrative salary which is just a sham to cover up their poor hiring skills

They hired freshers in bulk from mostly premium colleges like IIT/NIT and the likes and now a month into the job they are saying that they don't have projects, don't have clients and would have to pause fresher's engagements. They are now threatening to fire us based on a test which is a single attempt only and has a cutoff of >70%. The other option is to stay on a sabbatical until January (all while being unpaid). The HRs and the lead are behaving as if they are doing some kind of favour over the freshers by offering them two months of severance pay if we will fail the test. Just hire and fire to get funding from VCs and then play with careers of people.

Great work in killing the enthusiasm to learn. Great mindset of management, they think data engineers can never learn Machine learning. They ask data engineer do you know how to write a code. In their opinion Data Engineer doesn't know how to write a code.

Data Engineer are underdogs in every aspect like salary, they way you'll be treated. Data Science > Data Engineer. Doesn't matter you willingness to learn or how skilled you are. No chance for carrier change.
