New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward
I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. They weren’t mad at me, but now I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure how to handle this situation. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you deal with it? Let’s chat!

There is not any politics, the team culture is good.

There is no work-life balance. A clear definition was not shared at the time of hiring, probably because a lot more is expected from its employee - each one of us do many things with no additional pay. There is no benefits like medical or transportation either.

The work-life balance is really good. I like the company culture, even though we are connected virtually, we never miss celebrating events/festivals. Very flexible in the working hours. End of the day, what matters is the deliverables which we have promised to the client. Regularly connect with the CEO and daily updates on the progress we have made so far. Very encouraging environment, which everyone looks out for. Direct interaction with Clients helps us to stay on the same page and understand the concerns or positive points which client has.
