Everyone is quite approachable, especially the upper management. I think for a person who is less shy/introverted it would be an amazing place to mingle and learn from other reporters/co-workers. Reporting is dedinitely for people who are passionate and confident in going out and exploring and getting down on their knees. However, that is not all that they do. There are multiple other departments that one can work at, which are equally important in the company which assist in the development of oneself and their career. It is a good place for a career in whatever feat you are strong at (or want to be strong at). I only interned here for 3 months but it was worth it! I would definitely like to work there again.

Dislikes

Since I was an intern I didn't receive any stipend. But a co-worker was generous enough to put my lunch in her account so I didn't have to pay for lunch when I didn't bring some from home.

Likes

It is a good place to work. Most of the bosses are fine and you don’t feel like you are working under them, but with them. No unnecessary yelling, office politics etc. that we see in other media houses. That’s one reason you stay here.

Dislikes

Salary sucks. People with same skill sets and work profile have varied salaries. You may have a friend in the same field who started off with you, but has climbed up the ranks while you remained here. He may also join here as your senior. Promotions are scarce and may take 8 to 10 years. Some people get in 3 to four years, but that depends on who you are working with and how fond they are of you.

... one cannot take their legitimate earned holidays due to everyday work pressure. Higher management thinks us to be machines and will force you to do three persons work with the same salary. 2. Salary is not at all good compared to the industry standards. There are some fossils and clowns in the company who runs the show by sucking to higher management. All benefits are stopped except one small medical insurance policy. Editorial is exception as they are worshipped in our organization. 3. Appraisal is a stereotype process in the organization done by HR department every year with no outcome. Promotions are rare as a White Elephant in The Hindu Group which may occur at an interval of every 4 to 5 years if you are lucky with an optional(depends upon super boss) salary hike of 5% to 10% max. Here also editorial is exception. 4. Day by day job security is also an issue in this company with many levels of lay offs over the years. 5. There is little scope for skill development and opportunity for learning and is rarely encouraged by higher management. 6. Due to the above points work satisfaction is also affected and is low. 7. Company culture is orthodox but there are few people who terrorize the whole system by sacking people from there job. 8. People who are working in the organization should be given priority in terms of promotion and salary hike. Instead worthless and lazy people are taken from outside with higher salary which breaks the moral of the existing loyal employees. One trick I have noticed that if people threatens to leave or joins the company again are given higher salary and designation.
