...listic expectations of becoming bigger than TOI but want to do nothing about it. To start with hire experienced people but they don't pay so no one wants to work here. They fire people without any back up so the existing employee ends up doing four people's job. At each department they are short staffed. You won't get any help and every time you go on leave you will have a fear of losing your job. They will ensure your weekoffs are cancelled because they will fix appointments on that day when you have off. You can't be honest so I would like to advise you incase you join, always lie. Truth has no space and you will be targetted. Each position in the office is underqualified including the editors, reporters, and people on the desk. You will come across good people but won't feel like respecting them, for working at FPJ itself is demeaning by all means. The owners who are much younger to senior journalists (in one or two cases) will treat you like trash. So much of egos and they will really suck your blood. There's no work life balance unless you are completely unambitious and don't care for anything. They pay so less and there are increments in hundred rupees. They will demand a lot but contribute none. Leadership is bad. They are not leaders, not businessmen but blood sucking machines. They will harrass you, exhaust you and you will always have job insecurity. You will always have unconscious fear of bumping into the management because then you are stopping there and answering to 'whats happening'. They don't even read their own newspaper. Half the time they don't know if the stories appeared or not. Basically everything is their owned including the print and office space so there's not expense. No matter how hard you work, not a single word of appropriation comes from anyone. Ultimately you realise you are working for someone else's ambition and tou quit, broken, shattered, and energyless. Once you quit you need a detox and a therapy. It's that bad. If you haven't got through at FPJ, you are blessed, but if you have, you will have really tough time. People are good here, but everyone is scared of the management and it's not their fault. Some people there really need job but once the management knows, they are fired. Very bad. Sit home but don't choose FPJ. There's a reason why people don't join them. As for starters join them, you don't need much writing skills and aptitude of a journalists, which basically are the prerequisites of the job but that's the team head's added job to train the raw people in the same salary. As a newcomer you will learn as a trainee but will be paid so not a bad idea. FPJ is good for trainees but not for experienced and hardworking people. Don't be too enthusiastic, your passion will be used. Be a freelancer to them for print. Don't opt for freelancing for online. There's no Sunday off. Six days a week is a torture on your body and mind is definitely s**** working with fools.

The new management, especially run by someone claiming to be His Royal Highness from Kuwait, has ruined the workplace. I was working for years in this company. Never have I seen someone exploiting employees in such a way and throwing them out without notice periods despite having contracts. The editors in print are more approachable and kind.

...now how to manage employees. Neither do they know how to play with their budget. They will hire people with big company names on their CVs, pay them heavy, and fire them when they get nothing in return. Good employees are not treasured and are made to suffer.

No timely payment of salary. Need to take ten rounds of the clerk to get check. Understaffed office, so workload for some gets immense. Very drab, quite, musty office... not to everyone's liking. Readership of paper is low in Indore. Quality of paper and editing is poor...Bosses are incompetent...

There’s no redeeming quality to The Free Press Journal. Absolutely nada.

Everything. From the management to the HR to the work culture, everything is horrid. Once you join this company, the management, HR & the editor will consider you as their slave. There is zero job security, people have been fired without notice at the end of their shift & no reason given. They will fire anyone & everyone they don’t like, even if they have completed only 1 month at the company. All in all, if you like your mental peace, run away from this godforsaken company.

Byline articles in the newspaper only if your story is good.

Dislikes

Lot of politics in the office and lot of partiality. The reporter's treat interns like fools they are arrogant too. They don't know to respect any interns no professionalism in the office no one is helpful. They editors think interns know everything. No stipend for interns all are paid less. Non supportive people in the office. They think interns know everything, no one learns and come from mom's stomach.
