As a site engineer, your input to construction projects will be technical, organisational and supervisory. You'll set out and determine the location for infrastructural installations, both above and below ground, and will apply designs and plans to mark out the site. You'll also share responsibility for site security, health and safety and the organisation and supervision of material and human resources. Projects can range from small scale to multi-million-pound ventures and may include civil, road, rail and other infrastructure projects. Working as part of the site management team, you'll work alongside and liaise with: architects construction managers engineers planners subcontractors supervisors surveyors.

...irms don’t want to take up freshers as they have to train them for field work. The salary is also low upto the initial 5 years while freshers from other branches are getting double that salary in a beautiful office. (I still remember I got into an AC bus full of IT firm employees while returning from work and was treated like an alien. My shoes were smeared with dried mud patches, hair was dusty, shirt was soiled as I was working on a site where piling work was in progress). Your work timings will vary according to site. If site is away from home then you will have more problems. No Saturday weekend parties with friends or Sunday at home. Sometime your site will not have proper cellphone tower coverage. Extended working hours. No room for even a single error. I think you will start seeing the reason why they avoid it.
