New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward
I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. They weren’t mad at me, but now I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure how to handle this situation. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you deal with it? Let’s chat!

It provides you a good salary.

Dislikes

The working Culture is very poor (lots of internal politics). Have to work 7 days a week plus in a day you have to work for 8-10 hrs. There are no holidays even on National holidays

...liberty to experiment with teaching styles as long as it maintains the standard. The institution is devoid of any office politics and the salary given maintains a certain standard. The job is secure enough, given the teachers can manage the students.

Dislikes

The balance between work and life for hostel-teachers is the main gripe. School and hostel work takes away most of the time and when we bring hostel work into the equation, the salary appears a little less. The other thing is they keep the fees from the study classes pending. It's not much, but while paying, if they paid in full for all the classes till that point it would have felt nice.
