1. No salary hike in 5 years, i.e. since the time I joined. Just the excuse "we dont have budget" 2. Taking a leave or even 2 hours off the manager makes you feel as though you're stealing from his house. 3. No Training, they say they dont have budget for it. If somehow one enrolls they are frowned upon by managers "is the training relevant to our work" . Not to mention the daily and weekly updates you need to share after the trainings. 4. Managers and directors feel they are working on rocket science. Working with them feels like working with daily wagers.

Likes

Higher management is too much knowledgeable to understand problem and guide junior people to resolve any challenges. As well as they take each resources with their personal life priority.

Dislikes

Salary hike is too low or there is not streamline process to beat inflation each year.

Likes

It provides more flexibility in terms of working location ie office or home and even in some cases it is fully remote. Lots of talented technical individuals specially IC's. there are multiple training opportunities to learn wider range of technologies and applications

Dislikes

No Salary Hike even after COVID Higher Management is very lethargic and is just interested in grabbing names for themselves at the cost of talented IC's No Job Stability as we frequently hear of RFI Promotion opportunities are very limited

Likes

Oracle has customers world wide so the work that you do impacts many people. This gives a huge satisfaction as a Software Developer. The work life balance is great where 5-6 hours of solid work is enough to get you through your daily tasks. I have not heard of any layoffs in Oracle's Application Development Unit so the job security is great.

Dislikes

...USD in stocks and if you join as an IC2 with 1-4 years of experience, you get 0. The salary desparity is huge and as far as I have heard, the hike cycles are non existent. With regards to learning, as an Applications Developer at Oracle, you will work with Internal tools like VBS and ADF which are not widely used in the industry. These are low code tools which require good problem solving and debugging skills to master but do not require hands on coding as such. Additionally, now they have also started 5 days WFO in most of the Hyderabad teams.

Slow paced development work. Flexible timings. RSU is some relief considering their poor salary package

Dislikes

1.poor career growth - no industry standard learning 2. Poor financial growth: hikes happen like rain in desert, once in a while. That too of poor percentage ( at times even single digit ). You can’t beat inflation with salary increment 3. Low standard work: the nature of work is that you mostly deal with outdated tech stack, tools and processes. No real learning from day to day work. Even the smallest piece of task would need complicated processes and approvals making it unnecessarily boring with no useful takeaway
