It's a very good organization. Am belongs to electrical engineering. It's perfect opportunity for core branch students like me. I am learning and gaining many knowledges here like tranformer, maintenance and operation.

Here the salary is very low. And it's not a regular job. It can't provide jobs for apprentice students .

...growth is good but being a govt. controlled public sector it depends on vacancy. Salary is as per state govt. scale of pay in Odisha. Govt.TA rules applicable, Political interference is very less. scope for learning through training and working in a team is there, but one has to learn by study and practice. work enviroment is good. One has to create his scope for innovation. Work life balance is average. Overall experience of 30+ years is good.

Dislikes

Govt. controlled organisation. Slow working. Not a favourable work environment for time bound completion of project works. Subject to long and tedious process of working.Government procedures are more important than Project management principles.Still good results are achievable.

Work culture, promotion & transfer policies, behaviour of staffs,organisation regulations are terrible to handle for an officer .lots of politics even lower rank will treat you as peon and you enjoy the work here if you don't want to work there.

No timely promotion avenue for Junior Manager finance. Even a qualified CA/CMA Junior manager doesn't get any promotion. Cause no structure is made for them for promotion. But an assistant manager gets promotion timely. Bad life for Junior manager finance.

Dislikes

One who works hard doesn't get any rewards. Whereas one Assistant Manager and above gets promotion in timely even he doesn't work properly.

OPTCL is my dream job. This is a very good company of Odisha government. You get to learn a lot by doing things here. This is a secured job. Here the employee gets all types of facilities. You will feel very proud of what you have done here. You have to know the importance of electricity.

Dislikes

After doing apprenticeship in optcl, one should get direct job in optcl. Because the same process which is used in regular job is same in apprentice also.
