It is a privilege to be able to pass on my knowledge and skills,

It is a shame so much of the course work is on academic achievement as many students are not that inclined , the reason why NITI was introduced so those who could not manage university would have the opportunity to gain good training and qualify in an engineering field some however would benefit from a 1 to 1 to wit it was not possible due to staff shortage and as such we had no time to take breaks or prepare work. More time should be given for practical training as some students would better understand the reason for the theory work in class, again not enough staff . My department was headed by a Plummer, no doubt highly skilled in his field but very little understanding of welding such as having all the welding tables painted , looks very nice but totaly unusable , insufficient equipment for a class , the equipment in our bungalows was very dated , however no doubt this has been remedied there was a bit of animosity towards us new tutors, why I don't know possibley because we were all tradesmen turned instructers and not as many of the others were classroom tutors.on the pluss side we were treated very well . The collage could so easily be a shining light in Saudi Arabia , but whilst it is run totaly by academics with no hands on experience in manual engineering it is hard to see students benefiting as much as they should I would love to return as a teacher trainer but there has to be changes with atitudes , the students are the most important criteria as they are part of Saudi Arabia's future. You have an opportunity to make a lasting legacy for all the young men who can't attain a degree at university but can still excell some just need a little extra help
