...he unit I work for). Office premises are neat, clean and generally well managed. Good annual bonus which is always above at least 130% on average. Appraisals are in the range of 4-6% average and more for good performers. Work is mostly project based which allows employees the opportunity to showcase their contributions to the management during annual appraisals. Very good safety culture which is important for a company in this business and very high focus on business ethics. Stock options exist for tenured employees although in RSU format (restricted stock units) with minimum vesting period of 3 years.

In India, the main offices are not in prime locations (they are in Kolkata & Vadodara) leading to reluctance on part of good talent from joining the company. Very slow work culture and a flat organization with extremely limited opportunities for promotions and career growth. Once you join in a certain profile, expect to continue working in it for at least 10-12 years. Very limited opportunities for up-skilling exist leading to career stagnation and extreme difficulty in finding new opportunities outside the organisation. And once you are observed to be stagnating, there's a danger of being handed the pink slip unless you have a Godfather to save you. Quality of the workforce is somewhat mediocre. Benefits and perks are almost non-existent. No dynamism or vibrance in day to day work operations. Indian management doesn't have a lot of authority and things are mostly controlled from abroad. Globally, the management itself is very orthodox and somewhat incompetent. People in 50 plus age range who should have been thrown out of the company long ago for heavy incompetence continue to be entertained with good designations and salaries just because they appear safe to the overseas management. Generally, the entire workforce appears a little dull and not very energetic. There's also lot of reluctance on part of employees to go the extra mile to accomplish team and company objectives. This is resulting from an inherent union culture among the employees that the management appears somewhat scared of. Management prefers to promote and reward yes men and merit is not recognised much. Medical benefits are limited. Expect to buy your own health insurance as the company provided one will not cover your costs.

No work life balance at all. You can be called anytime for any work. For small on site plants, you have to stay nearby the plant, and company will not even provide transportation . You cannot go home without managers permission. No concept of time. You have to be available always for the plant. Basically you dedicate yourself to linde.
