A self-sustaining campus away from the city centre provided tranquility and an opportunity to walk around between work shifts. University covered relocation costs.

Dislikes

Standards of university department are decent, but nowhere near that of Russell Group (I worked in two before, one outside London). Work done in silos. The isolation of the campus is bad when there is traffic (1h+) during heavy traffic or roadworks. There isn't much of a positive environment to learn other skills beyond those related to the work. My research group is poorly managed.
