Bonus for a person in festival season is not given as one month salary. Actual bonus was introduced in India for, while English government ruling us Indian employees got weekly salary. After India gets freedom it was changed into monthly salary. In this four weeks salary will be gets loss for all the employees. So government announced, that four week salary must to be given to all the employees in their local festival time as bonus. In Tamilnadu, most of the employers following it to give in Diwali some other in Pongal some will divide it into two equal half and will give that in both Diwali and Pongal. But in our company the maximum bonus for employee is Rs.15,000/-. That also they giving Rs.7,500 per Diwali and Rs.7,500 for Pongal. For a family is Rs.7,500/- is enough to celebrate the festival? So bonus must be given as 12 months average salary. For ex: If a employee gets 2,40,000/- as cumulative salary for a year then bonus must be given as Rs.20,000/-.
