Worst system , Maintenance wise worst and developed new technology in working system but railways developed only new trains .

Likes

Railway never compromise with the safety of passengers. Never compromise with SOP ,quality of materials & maintenance of equipment. Jobs security is good.

Dislikes

...e joined Sr. Sec. Engineer through out whole service remains as Sr.Sec.Engineer. Salary structure is bad.

1. No work life balance (Saturday is not offs & an employee is expected to be available 24 hrs on duty), 2. No growth opportunities especially if you join at a particular Post (SSE), 3. Very poor work evaluation system leading to improper and mostly biased evaluation of employees promoting unworthy employees & resulting in low moral & enthusiasm in most Staff.

Indian Railways is brand which gives you a different reputation in social life. The mechanical engineer who wants to stick to core mechanical engineering will be happy working here.

Dislikes

Work Culture is worst, Salary in comparison with your duties are much less , you can earn more in privet of you are capable enough. There are very few chances of promotion. if you join Indian railways as Sr Section Engineer ,there are more than 90% chances you will be retiring on same post. You you are doer then you will be expolited definitely. the person who is not sincere will be ignored by the administration or the maximum punishment for such non productive employees is wages loss not more than 3 %. ( i.e. no increment) . The railway pass and facilities are mith these days , althogh you get 3 first class passes you donot get leave to avail those passes. Now a days Pass waiting list is separate these days, confirm tickets you may not get on it. Work pressure is such that you will not get enough man power, Material for maintenance but you have to achieve targest any how.

We are INDIAN RAILWAYS.....WE MOVE THE NATION.....best organization for work and work culture good , company policies very nice.

Dislikes

There is a lot of political unions and the management doesn't address our issues. Salary is decent but career growth is slow.
