No fixed hours to spend in office, that depends between teams. promotions and pay cycles depends on your importance and how good the team is doing in the organisation. managers are helpful and respectful towards employees in general. one have scope and opportunity to grow skills, contribute to open source, blogs, disclosures.

Dislikes

Internal movement between teams is almost always a fight. Often people are made to work in mixed bag of tasks/technologies, that might make one a jack of all trades and makes specialisation in one/some skillset go away.

They considered me for H1b and filed my petition in 8 months after my joining

Dislikes

After receiving H1B they never approved my travel and you are forced to stay there for less salary. Don't take joining bonus, get maximum take home salary before joining. In percentage you will receive like 8-10 percent hike but in 3 years you will be less paid and have less knowledge as you work for some client.

Likes

Lot of learning opportunities and initiatives by the company. Work life balance is good based on the projects you work on. There is no work timings, just complete the work assigned and none bothers you. Great co workers, very helpful.

Dislikes

Recognition and rewards are very bad here. Salary hikes are bad and the yearly bonus are the worst. IBM takes half yearly feedbacks on the performance, but it is not taken into consideration. Whatever you work or how many projects you take and deliver quality work managers just give you one liner feedback. It is driven by managers. It is very important for a company to make their employees feel good.

Job security is good though someone is average in technical and having permanent employment also Policies are good but many people managers doesn't follow the IBM policies and practically, you can't do anything beyond people managers, no scope on HR for performance/work related concerns.

Dislikes

If you're happy with the package being offered and do not expect any salary hike at IBM during your employment then you can join IBM. It doesn't matter how smart you're at work!

Good work environment and culture Teammates are supportive and the management is transparent.

Dislikes

There is a lot of politics and the management doesn't address our issues. Salary is decent but career growth is slow. And there is no free medical benifits for employee and his family.
