New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward

I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. They weren’t mad at me, but now I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure how to handle this situation. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you deal with it? Let’s chat!

It gives space and respect to the employees and one can without any fear talk to the bosses if there is any personal emergency. The company treats employees with the utmost respect and trust them too. The HR here listens, understands, and responds timely with the correct resolution. The team is like a family here. So many activities take place for the betterment and well-being of the employees too.

Along with delivering work, you get good time to learn new technical skills and groom yourself as per market standard. Reviews and appraisals are done on time. Every release is well planned which helps in achieving day to day work without getting overloaded. Team members are very helpful.

The work life balance is the key factor here. No odd shifts. Pre-Corona as well, hybrid work was available. But post corona, we are have complete work from home. The company is concerned about employee health hazards. Management is supportive in terms of learning and exposure. The work culture is smooth. Its been great working so far.
