New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward

I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. They weren’t mad at me, but now I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure how to handle this situation. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you deal with it? Let’s chat!

...ing for startups means NO job security, but with Grazing Minds it was different. Even during Covid no salary cut or delayed salary speaks tons about the management's finances and handling of crisis. So can say there is substantial job security. Also the company takes great care of staff and family, everyone was provided vaccination - speaks volumes about empathy and care. Regular benefits and work culture is present!!

The company is short staffed by 20-25% and wants to keep it that way!! Some projects have short duration, so there are contractual workers a lot and it becomes difficult to train them in this short duration, make them adept to company's culture and again start the whole process. Also the managers are not involved in the contractual consultants hiring process, so it becomes a pain - working with different kind of people - some who do not fit with you!!
