This place is full of politics and you can't maintain a work-life balance they pay you good but makes you do everything and anything. You can't question the bosses even if you are right and if you raise some issues that you are facing they ask you to leave the job. This place has given a lot of people anxiety and stress issues. And to some even depression. Not recommended at all No career growth until an unless you are a shoe licker.

Everything was bad the people where arrogant and cocky apart from salary everything was terrible no place to rest (NO Staff Room) they use to call it staff room but it use to be filled with rats and extra stocks. You have to come on the exact time if not you will be smacked by the manager but when it's time to go home you can't go home until an unless the entire store's work is done no matter how far you live and if you ask about going on the proper shift timing you are asked to leave the job. There slogan is WORK FOR YOUR PASSION But they take away your passion from you They call themselves as Sports company but they are just like other retailers i.e Big Bazaar and D-Mart They want you to do sales handle customers average 13 to 15 thousands on weekends and on weekdays be in your department but they want the reports like sales, margin, rapture, inventory, growth, and all other stupid things but you can't leave your sales department and can't even bring the laptop inside to work You have to make LSP (Local Sports Project) but can't go to understand the market competition because decathlon is always under staffed I have many things to say but everything bad because the company is really not good to work for.

... mostly hire young people.. so that gives a lot of vitality at the work place. The salary is never delayed. They have good benefits like insurance.

They don't promote easily, all the upper Management consist of people they know previously, irrespective of your hardwork and dedication they prefer their previous team mates for any upper position be it a full timer/coach/referent.

... once your in, every on thinks this is great culture. Backend is a world apart. Great parties, off-sites, merch, pay. Still lots of work and pressure, but a world apart. How you move up. Basically if you're not connected, you join retail team. Within 2 years build good contacts, and move into backend teams. Warehouse team is also ok, but they work a lot too. If you have family, avoid joining the company. Also there is a notion that no one will fire you, it's a very safe company, I have countless friends who have been asked to leave for the most random reasons. So they are not counted as layoffs. They have great sporty culture, which is good. But need to really weigh the pros and cons. Tons of friends who have worked for over 5-6 years, stuck in roles, with menial pays vs industry.

Now happily working in a Swedish company with greater culture. Work culture is just in talk and paper, not in reality.

... it but if you can hamper personal time then it would great learning for you. Do not get amazed to see the salary structure of OSL that i have written below its no easy task to get hired as Full Time OSL unless or until you are able to confidently speak(communications), Have some experience or skills like Excel(not basic excel😂),PPT,Doc, organisational,Team leading with good strong behaviours & you are very clear to have future in Decathlon only. Still you might be offered only PT role coz we can't take risks.

Biggest -ve would be the work life balance, No matter your WO or leaves whole day you'll have something in your plate left to do your manger may not ask you to do work outside store but you'll do yourself to grow . After devoting 4 years to this company i am kinda stuck at same role not able to perform really well or change it to other sectors of decathlon. First salary regardless of role is very good but the increment is very very hard to get unless you have done something extraordinary (5-7% in avg hike). 5 is what I got with average performance. With my current skills that i have learnt within organisation an Dept.Mamager in Decathalon can easily get Store manager in other small brands with much higher salary say 50-70% hike which is what my knowns are getting. It's the case with DMs only since for further roles(Operations,SM,Retail manager) the basic salary has been increased by 20%. You'll also see biasness is name of Gender diversity, i have seen females with less skill set getting much better opportunity to their male counterparts who may have higher skill/experience or even performance still, Decathalon has to promote women leaders this is evident with a lot new female Dept. Managers being promoted earlier if you've decent skill/performance also with new connect type store (small size) opening we can see more women store managers or if you coming for recruitment chances of female getting hired is much higher. Whereas a male has to perform extraordinarily best to grow ahead a bitter truth that all the RMs knows but will not accept it cause its against the value of company(+_+) Edit: Dept Manager salary has been increased recently by 38k & though basic OSL salary has already been hiked from 25k to 28k, but again see the %difference, Coaches are working much ore than the OSLs still the average hike & compensation is really less.
