I really enjoyed working with the team on our annual financial reports. I was able to use my accounting skills to help the business make better decisions about their finances.

One of the things I dislike is that you will sometimes feel like you don't know enough. There are some many different industries and while as an accountant you need to understand each at a high level, it is sometimes tough when you try to be a perfectionist and fully understand what the client does.

As a public accountant, you have the opportunity to advance your career relatively quickly. While private accountants tend to progress their career and develop skills at a defined pace, public accountants can learn all aspects of accounting and gain more experience quicker by working with a variety of clients

Dislikes

Research by AAT found that 90% of people who work in accountancy have been stressed out by work, with 43% having to take time off as a result of stress. This makes accountancy one of the most stressful industries to work in
