I had the opportunity to do all kinds of stories as a city reporter. I was supported by my seniors throughout the process.
Dislikes
I was laid off in the middle of a worldwide pandemic without being given any prior notice for that. I was continuously overworked and stressed while working. The office environment was toxic. Along with suffering subtle signs of sexism, there were no ways to maintain a work-life balance while working for TOI. I had to cover the expenses of travelling by myself in an already expensive city with a very meagre amount of salary. We did not have the freedom to have a twitter account and were only expected to tweet things related (read: in favour) to the company....Read More
Work Details
I worked as part of the city team and covered railways, fisheries, community, and other events on special occasions. I had to find new story ideas while filing one-two stories every day along with writing Sunday specials and features on occasion.
Work days: Monday to Saturday
