This is the most interesting part, I joined TATA after months of negotiation and still ended up taking a massive paycut to fit their criteria. I took up the decision thinking the opportunities it can provide me and the technologies I can learn . Also being a die hard fan of Ratan Tata and wanted to work for the brand since the beginning of my career. <mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;"> TATA is known for job security and satisfaction but that completely depends on the manager and the team you are working in</mark>. My manager is in the organisation more than a decade now and I joined after serving few top corporate companies. I was instantly treated as an outsider. The culture is ages old; you have to call everyone "Sir", respect is not earned but demanded and nobody cares about your skills they will start pushing you to mould you like they please to. The managers are extremely aggressive and needed to develop how to be a "Human" before being a manager. The senior members fight like teenagers infornt of everyone, there is a constant power struggle and insecurity amongst the old timers. If you are a fresher, its a great place to start your career but if you are experienced think twice before you join. You will be humiliated at every step to break your confidence until you start being a "Yes Boss" employee. Micro-management is next level, you need to copy your manager is every email you send out and no room for improvement. Since you are experienced you can't make mistakes, seniors will have only one way communication with your manager and you will be judged accordingly. You will have no forum to speak and if you try you will immediately face the repercussions. My experience ended me with a condition made me take therapy sessions for months to build my career and confidence again. I loved the brand but learnt in a hard way to stay away from it for life. So please judge the team you are joining before you say "Yes". HRBPs are for namesake. You go to them with your issue and expect them to maturely handle it they will schedule a call with the person you have an issue with and ask you to resolve it over the call and mind it the call will also have a load of other people who will be mere spectators.
