Variety of patients. Rare , complicated cases can bed managed here due to presence of super- specialisation teams and good ICU care. A lot of hype around academic events and research.. that you may enjoy.. but beware that not all that glitters is gold.

No growth at all for residents. You will be silent spectator even in a surgical field .. obstetrics and gynaecology being the worst. There is no culture of imparting knowledge , let alone surgical skills. Residents are treated as labour to do menial jobs and paperwork and not encouraged in contributing to examination and clinical evaluation or management plan. It would be considered a great privilege bestowed on you to even assist in OTs or in normal deliveries, so forget advancing your surgical skills. So it is the perfect place to see any clinical acumen or surgical skill you possessed slowly wither and die a slow long torturous death . Let us not forget about the toxicity . Even the most senior consultant will deny taking responsibility and shamelessly pin blame on the most junior doctor. Harassment, humiliation and verbal abuse is commonplace. There is no bond or interpersonal connection whatsoever . Bottom line.. Gangaram obstetrics and gynaecology department is a graveyard for your career and mental health....Read More
