The exposure it gives will make you stone hard to face the world. But, camaraderie, loyalty, appreciation, impartiality,a force to grow and develop is all destroyed by some group of officers. They are only bothered about their promotion and growth and for that if they have to sacrifice any or everyone they will not hesitate.

Don't become SSC officer. Rather become a PC officer or Sailor and you will be better with all benefits and leave after 15yrs. The Short Service Commission is the worst entry. It will use you and throw you out more than 80% of SSC officers at an age where it will not only be very difficult to get a job but the compensation after giving 10-14yrs of you prime life is peanuts. No medical, no pension and clear discrimination from permanent commission officers. So, never ever join indian Navy as SSC officer. It is better to slog yourself in private and attain much better than what you will have in Indian Navy....Read More

There is nothing free in Indian Navy you get allowance but you have to pay more than the allowance you get to maintain the standard. It is a highly politicised environment where the only way you can survive is to have a godfather from higher ranks.

The benefits have been either curtailed by govt. Or they are in much worse condition. don't believe in the advertisement of Indian Navy it is all partial lie. Only very very select few gets those opportunities shown and that too without sacrificing your family and health plus you have to have a godfather period.
