The Indian Army has a work culture based on commitment, punctuality and espirit de corps. The service takes you to places unseen (often unheard of) by civilians. It gives you experiences that can be mentally and physically demanding but are memorable nevertheless if you are robust enough to stand it out.The equipment (artillery, armoured fighting vehicles, combat engineer equipment etc) are state of the art and there is a lot of learning to do. As a commissioned officer (Group A gazetted level - Lieutenant and beyond) one commands troops who are the finest in The World and the bonds that one form with the men often last a lifetime. The spirit of going beyond the call of duty and of service before self is deeply ingrained throughout the force. Corruption is minimal and not overt. When in command one has to take complete ownership of one's unit and has to handle all administrative, logistic, financial, disciplinary and human resources functions independently. The salary is decent and one has a lifelong pension (equal to 50% of one's last paid emoluments with periodic increases in DA and sizeable upward revisions when pay commissions (once in 10 years) happen.

Dislikes

Rank is a big thing in The Indian Army. The career pyramid is steep beyond the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and only about 2% of officers make it to the rank of Major General. So there is a good chance of one's being passed over for promotion (at about 17 years or so of service) but the good part is that if one chooses to quit when one gets passed over, one gets a decent pension and can get a job in the civilian sector....Read More

Security, Management, Leader ship,decision making, team work, multi tasking, communication skil and working environment, and discipline are excellent. Canteen, cafeterias and recreation facilities. Policies and SOP are excellent. Good salary and bonus.

Retirement from service. I want civil job after retirement.

Good work environment and culture.Teammates are supportive and the management is transperent.There is a huge cafeteria and gaming arcade for chilling.Company policies are good.Apparaisals are fair and they give good salary hike and bonus every year.

Dislikes

There is no politics and the management doesn't address our issues.Salary is decent but career growth is slow.There is a bond of 2 years before which you cannot resign. On the job training is not given to new joinees.

The job is quite interesting! I struggles a bit in the beginning as there was no formal training session. I learnt everything on the job. I got a chance to wear multiple hats and that helped me get a taste of different roles within the same team.
