It is establishment in 1875 with a mandate to take weather observations and to provide it for current and forecast information to agriculture,irrigation,aviation,transport,shipping etc. It has a highly qualified and skilled scientific working force spread over country. Being a member of world meteorological organization(WMO) it hasinternational commitments too such as exchange of weather data,providing training to Asian countries in various areas such as Instrumentation,Meteorology,Computer science,Agriculture meteorology etc. I have wide exposure for getting opportunity to provide weather services at New Delhi(HQ),Mumbai Airport,Guwahati Airport, National climate data center,Agricultural meteorological division and Instrumentation division at Pune weather office. I got excellent opportunity to get training on climate data management system at Toulouse,France by Meteo - France International. Attended many conferences/workshop/seminar on the subject. Indian Meteorological Department is a Premier Central Government Organisation which works under the Guidelines of WMO World Meteorological Department in the field Weather and Climate collectiing Daily Data related to Weather and Climate doing Analysis and Perdiction on Climate Change and giving Daily Weather reports and Bulletins it also issue on various advisory services in the of Agriculture Mountaineering Aerospace regarding adverse weather conditions, I was fortunate to work with the Top level Officers / Scientist like Dr G Krishna Kumar, Dr PCS Rao, Dr Satya Kumar, Dr Mukhopadhyay it was a 2000 crore DATA RESCUE SCHEME Dream Project of IMD run under the guidance of WMO for which they had set up a STATE of ART DATA CENTER with Meteo De France ( ERP ) the officers we very kind and Gentle and I was on Cloud Nine having the Intellectual Feeling while working with them...Read More
